Alloy Development as Developers

The project marks the developer’s fifth project in Dumbo and involves two of the last historic loft buildings in the neighborhood to be developed into a single address. Alloy Design was responsible for the architectural design of 168 Plymouth, which features 46 unique homes in four distinct designs, including brick & timber lofts, daylight factory lofts, townhouses and contemporary penthouses. The project’s driving design element is Alloy’s thoughtful integration of two former factories, with two of Dumbo’s most prevalent historic architecture styles. 50 Jay was built in 1891 by Masury & Sons Paintworks with longleaf pine beams and columns and is a classic example of American Round Arch Style. 42 Jay was built in 1921 as an addition to 50 Jay Street and is one of the area’s early cast-in- place structural concrete buildings with large daylight factory windows.

Each of the 46 homes at 168 Plymouth was meticulously crafted and feature wide oak white flooring, up to 12-foot ceiling heights, custom RiFRA Italian cabinetry with built-in pantries, porcelain stone countertops with an integrated sink, along with Miele appliances and a whirlpool washer and heat- pump dryer. Master bathrooms are well appointed with dual showers and vanities, Dornbracht fixtures, hand-clipped stone mosaic floors with porcelain shower walls and built-in shelves, white oak vanities with white solid surface countertops and integrated sinks. Select residences will feature soaking tubs. Each master bath will feature a full height built-in mirrored medicine cabinet and integrated shelving.
