A new bar within a long-established hotel in Munich-Haidhausen makes a bold statement. Named 33rpm, for the rotary speed of a vinyl LP, the bar features a 19-meter u-shaped counter made of decorative concrete in combination with burnished brass, where old vinyl LPs are incorporated. Furniture upholstered by hand with cord, industrial steel and floral wallpaper add material warmth and comfort to the design.
More from the Interior Architects:
For its reopening, a long-established hotel in Munich-Haidhausen was glammed up including a new bar. Here, it is all about music and old vinyl LPs – this is evident as the name of the restaurant is 33rpm, the rotary speed of a vinyl LP.
The constructional challenge was to creatively link the hotel area and the restaurant, which was mainly accomplished with a consistent wall design and matching materials. Once you enter the hotel through the main entrance, the reception is located on the left-hand side. Here, one can also find a detached bar made of decorative concrete in combination with burnished brass, where old vinyl LPs are incorporated.
On the right-hand side is a small seating area to function as waiting zone, on the other side is a lounge area. The lounge area serves well as breakfast room, café and for drinks late at night. The upholstered furniture in the lounge area is handmade. The furniture covered with cord, industrial steel and a floral wallpaper create warmth and comfort. The spacious bar completes the interior design and is the center of attention.
The ultimate goal was to create and build a bar which is without equal. The decision to place the 19-meter-long, U-shaped counter right in the middle of the room was disputed and bold, but it turned out to be the right decision. As the serving of prime drinks is of great priority, in the back of the premise one can find special exhibits stored in 6-meter-long shelves to function as an eyecatcher. The back wall is again made of cord, the front is made of burnished brass and the LED lighting emphasizes the quality once more.
