As member of the Danish-Icelandic consortium Portus Group Henning Larsen Architects won the competition to revitalise the area around the eastern harbour in Reykjavik. The project comprises an 85,000 m² masterplan with the overall objective to improve the connection between the city centre and the harbour.
The project includes a number of significant buildings for cultural and mixed use – a 29,000 m² concert and congress centre, a big five-star hotel and wellness centre, an academy of fine arts, a bank domicile, a cinema, a new shopping street and urban plaza, and a number of residential and commercial buildings along the fjord.
