Not a house, not a boat and not even a houseboat: when transforming the ‘Greif’ port crane into a mini hotel, the project developers and approval authorities had to make certain compromises between service vessel, house boat and building regulations. However, they didn’t want to make any compromises when it came to the floating crane’s external appearance. With cladding made from heat-insulating trapezoidal sheets, a new window layout made from the narrow Janisol Arte 2.0 steel profiles, and no shortage of passion and commitment from the operators, the dream property was enthusiastically renovated and authentically restored.
