The foundation Healthcare Centre Krimpen aan den IJssel has taken the initiative to realize a new building where a total package of care can be offered. The building contains, besides five practices with eighteen general practitioners, a poli clinic, a pharmacy, nursing, social work, Center for Youth & Family and physiotherapists. The building is designed as a modern business center. The building is constructed entirely with a modular aluminum facade with deep recesses. The modular facade provides flexibility of the plan. The deep recesses provide privacy in the rooms from the streets. Looking parallel along the building it seems completely closed. Only in passing it is open for a moment and then closes again. The structural grid spans of 14.4 meters. This large grid also provides flexibility of the plans. In the centre of the building is a large void with a roof of ETFE. The light makes it feel like an outdoor space but the climate is that of an conditioned indoor space.
