Our design for a new eight storey block in the heart of Dublin creates three levels of retail with apartments above and integrates with the retained Victorian and Listed ‘Irish Independent’ newspaper building, that is converted into residential use. As part of a larger urban regeneration scheme, our design employs a wrapping screen – or frame – clad in zinc that contains the lower retail element and respects the scale of the city. Apartments are contained within glazed facades held within timber clad, folded planes.
The project also included the upgrading and extension to Penneys department street facing O'Connell Street.
