King Abdullah Sports City Recreation

Make Architects as Architects

This world-class recreation centre is one of the key venues in the 1,000 hectare King Abdullah Sports City development and will be a place where young people from Saudi Arabia can participate in a wide variety of sports and leisure activities in a fun, exciting and dynamic environment.

Designed to the highest international standards, the facilities are publicly accessible and aim to encourage engagement in active lifestyles so that the younger generation become more involved in sport and live healthier lives. In addition, the centre offers state-of-the-art facilities for event and competition scenarios, and provides an opportunity for Saudi Arabia to host major international sporting events and promote an image of sporting excellence.

Catering for approximately 2,000 visitors at any one time, the new venue encompasses swimming pools, indoor sports halls, a boathouse, a youth hostel, extreme and urban sports areas and outdoor sports pitches. There will also be a range of social and leisure facilities to serve less active users, such as those accompanying youngsters who are participating in the activities, or those who simply want a relaxing stroll by the waterfront.

Tacchini as Manufacturers

King Abdullah Sports City is a new multi-use stadium and sports city, located 60 kilometers north of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

The design is intended to imbue this international venure with a strong sense of its specific place and environment; a contemporary architecture that sustains the people and cultures around it.

Savana studio from London took care of specifying some of Tacchini items for the Premium Lounge and Lobby areas. Among the products, Quilt sofas and armchairs chosen for their luxury feature and strong impact, Parentesi armchairs, with their classic and stylish form. As dining chairs, Parentesi Light have been selected with seat size customized.

Polar, in four different shapes, opens the scenario in the entrance lobby.

The space becomes a modern fusion of elegance and harmony.

The construction took 2 years, from 2012 to 2014. The city opened officially on May 1, 2014.
