Designers from studio ABDR planned The new Opera House with a terra cotta "skin" finish to bring the concept of lightness in an architectural balance between full and empty to the forefront. This bespoke system is a dry-laid wall with mechanical anchoring systems. The final design resulted in a terra cotta skin with 15x32x5 cm tiles glazed in iridescent blue-green: the most exciting result is the different shades of color that the material gains when exposed to daylight.
