St house is situated next to villa de maría de río seco at the north of córdoba province in argentina. It is located in the extreme south – east corner of a wide plot with a sutil slope and landscape dominated by the presence of large carob trees.
The client requested to solve a wide program of needs in a family and informal house with a traditional image, but at the same time, it will have current and modern elements. In the same way, it demanded the use of resistant materials for its construction.
The architectural response to the previous proposal was based on a new interpretation of the traditional suburban “ chalet “ ( villa ), a typology widely used in different towns and cities inside the argentine territory.
The proposal is divided into three very well defined areas ( public, private and services ), wich interact with each other and with the outside under a large double – sloping roof designed to accompany the profile of the surrounding hills.
Despite the large free surface to develop the proyect, it was proposed to mitigate the footprint on the ground, annexing to the previous proposal an important volume of marked horizontality to contain the uses of garage, gallery, barbecue and wine storage. In this way it was possible for these independent spaces to become part of the house at whole.
For its construction, the use of traditional brick was chosen. This material, together with exposed concrete, wood and materials such as glass, steel and sheet metal, ended up defining its character and imprint.
