Nestled in the heart of the Mirdif residential area in Dubai, STORM is an anchor to not only avid cyclists but also fitness enthusiasts who have long awaited the brand to open in their neighbourhood. T.ZED Architects worked closely with the Client and instructors to ensure that a tailor-made, seamless experience is offered to every visitor from the moment they enter STORM. Durability and function are paramount in this space, all while ensuring attention to details is paid to communicate refinement and craftsmanship.
The journey upon entering STORM starts with a multi-purpose reception and drinks counter that then leads to an open space catered to socialising with fellow visitors. This is an opportunity for instructors to meet visiting customers for an introduction. Changing rooms branch off the main artery of the space and both male and female changing rooms offer quiet rooms post session.
Meticulous accuracy and thoughtful thoroughness were paid to the joinery in each changing room, and to a careful selection of colour tones. The heart of STORM, the cycling room plays on light, acoustics and chromaticity. Depending on the intensity of the ride light levels increase or decrease and pulsate in tune with the music. The response has been resounding enthusiasm while T.ZED Architects continue to investigate and explore a second location with the Client.
