Referring to the old typology of the boat house this water pavilion is made up by 6 of these boat houses. The scale of the boat houses are adjusted to the scale of the lake and thus makes the pavilion very visible from the big lake. The pavilion is positioned on the South East end of a small peninsula along the lake. This way the pavilion benefits from both the views over the lake and the reet islands as well as the sun orientation. Because of the nature of the direct relation between land and lake the height difference is made visible and sensible by lowering part of the floors inside the pavilion. This way the relation to the water is more direct. The structure is made of oak and glass. The gives the pavilion both a solid and a airy feeling. Inside the guests bath in a sea of sunlight and have a divers view over the lake. A wooden ‘blanket’ is draped over the boat houses to filter the light and to make sure that the inside temperature is comfortable. The screen on the south facade can be opened to give a clear view on the lake. At night, when the south facade is closed, the pavilion light up like a beacon on the lake.
