Village im Dritten – Eurogate Vienna

Urban context Village im Dritten (Village in the third district) is a newly developed quarter between Landstraßer Gürtel and Otto-Preminger-Straße in the north-east, with a park for everyone in the middle. The Gürtelbogen, a two-storey commercial building, shields the residential complex behind it from the heavily frequented Gürtel. The guiding idea of “climate-resilient district development” focuses on parks, façade greening, roof gardens and percolating pavements, but also on social sustainability. Site 7, which was developed by Dietrich | Untertrifaller together with Artec, is located in the middle of the Quartierstrasse, exactly opposite the passage to the Gürtel. Our project owes its... Brick screen detailing - click on image for detailed drawing Lipton Thayer Brick House by Brooks + Scarpa The Lipton Thayer Brick House by Brooks + Scarpa is wrapped almost entirely in Chicago ‘Common’ brick, which is chosen because it looks different from typical red brick. It is also abundant and inexpensive as a material. The bricks are organized into vertical twisting columns to create an ever-changing pattern of opening and closing as light moves across and through the façade.   Steel louvre detailing - click on image for detailed drawing Media Library St Paul by Peripheriques Architectes The Media Library St Paul  is clad with a stack of what appear like irregular sheets that are actually slig... The intervention concerns the renovation of an historical building dating back to the early '900 and subjected to protection. The need to adapt the building to new needs led to the complete renovation of the interior spaces and the construction of a new volume located on the north-east front. The project has safeguarded the historical image of the building but proposes innovative elements both from the technological and the aesthetic point of view: the structure has been consolidated and adapted from the seismic point of view and the spaces now guarantee every kind of comfort to the users.Outside, the new volume relates to the original building without prevailing, but in a continuous dialogue. The fold of the covering of the new volume near... More

Modern building designs emphasize liberal use of glass. Meanwhile, building owners and occupants demand comfort—including reduced ambient noise. However, sound transmission is greatest through glazing made with ordinary window glass. This is especially a challenge for designers and engineers developing urban projects along highways, railroads, and airports. The answer is not less glass but new glazing materials, such as Saflex® acoustic interlayers with proven sound-dampening performance. While laminated glass with standard PVB interlayers provides noise reduction capabilities compared to ordinary glass, the new Saflex® Q PVB is a superior solution for architects specifying glazing systems requiring even higher levels of acoustic comfort.Saf... Løvvangen – living and socialising

In connection with the renovation of homes at Løvvangen, three new community buildings were built – a natural meeting place for residents for meetings, games and other community activities. The buildings differ from the surrounding buildings, with a clean and architectural design. The façades are an interplay between grey and black wooden cladding and orange STENI Colour panels. Wood is a slightly unusual material for this type of building, but creates a great contrast to the sleek, smooth panels and brick façade of the surrounding residential buildings. More

In Sandefjord, carpenter Dag Olsen and his colleagues at Bygg og Maskin AS are busy mounting STENI façade panels on the new ice rink at the Bugårdsparken recreation centre. He estimates that two people can install around 70 square metres of façade panels each day.“I think this is the fastest way to install a façade. The panels are pre-drilled, so once we get them screwed in place, the wall is basically finished,” says Olsen. “This project uses a combination of STENI Nature, STENI Colour and STENI Vision. The panels are numbered and stacked in the correct order on the pallet in accordance with the specific design. This is a system that I can recommend,” says Olsen, who is in the process of mounting panels to create the image of an ice skater... More

Nickby Heart

In Nickby, about 35 km northeast of Finland’s capital Helsinki, we find Nickby Heart – a school that used STENI Colour and STENI Vision in combination with interesting architecture to create a unique designed and vivid expression.Weatherproof!“We wanted each area of the schoolyard to have its own identity, and STENI façade panels gave us just what we wanted. The colours are sharp and clear – and they really stand up to the sun, wind and weather. In addition, we could get graphics at the same quality. It was not so expensive either,” says Pentti Kareoja, architect at ARK-house arkkitehdit Oy.The architect chose to use STENI Vision and STENI Colour façade panels – colourful and playful. More

Exteriors - microventilated façades

The microventilated façade is an external cladding system that creates a thin air gap (open on the top and on the bottom) between the external face of the perimetric wall of the building and the external environment. This air gap creates a “chimney effect” that allows the ascending movement of the air that avoid condensation and dissipates the water vapor coming from the inside of the building. Microventilated cladding system suits peculiarly to old building renovations and in the projects with severe spatial constrains. More

Private Residence "M"

The MAMA Architecture and Engineering study worked on the renovation and expansion project of a private residence from the beginning of the 20th century, located near the walls to the north of the old town of Treviso. The team of architects designed the timely renovation of the main building's external walls, while the interior part was completely redesigned, from the foundations to the roof, with a modern touch. In addition, the back of the house was enlarged with a new wooden structure with Lapitec® cladding, an ideal choice for the creation of the ventilated facade. In this way, the final result combines past and future while preserving the beauty and historical value of the building. A balanced dualism between histor... More

After a long period of decline and minimal maintenance, the board of the Solheimslien housing cooperative in Bergen decided that it was time to completely renovate the buildings.
