Fayna Town (1st phase)

Open and half-open blocks allow to utilize all advantages of the complex, forming a private courtyard, but the opening on the complex’s southern side helps avoid excessive shadowing. A different number of storeys of the complex’s sections allows creating the maximum number of corner apartments for the best layout options. Unlike a regular block that has four outer corners, half-open blocks may have up to 20 corners. To accommodate fully pedestrian courtyards, architects created two-sided entrances to sections of houses - one on the side of the street and the other on the side of the yard. Planning solutions were realized based on the PRO-apartment standard. When starting to work on a project, we analyze the families who are g... More

Respublika Housing (1st phase)

The basic principles adopted for the development of the 1st phase of the project: midrise buildings, urban block planning, separation of pedestrian zones and vehicles, closed courtyards - open streets. Urban blocks are not classical quadrangular, but pentagonal forms a slightly more lively and unpredictable space. The sections are arranged in pentagons, which diverge in petals from the "core" - an area of 80x80 meters with a community center. In the place where the fifth "petal" of housing could be located - elementary school and recreation: tennis courts, football, and volleyball courts. The design of the private courtyards closed on all sides is deliberately opposed to the streets' geometric correctness. The atmosphere here is cozy, sl... More

Kyiv’s best restaurants drawn together within a revitalized industrial artefact

The new Kyiv Food Market is located inside a former military arsenal building dating from the end of the 18th century. Once a cold and empty space, it is now a meeting place that draws together Kyiv’s best restaurants under one roof. The concept was undertaken by the balbek bureau team (architecture) and developed by Alex Cooper, an innovator of food market projects, and restaurateur Mikhail Beilin. Yevhenii Avramenko Spatially, the food court restaurant units ring the perimeter of the space, leaving an open central atrium with approximately 300 seating places. This compact apartment of 65 sq.m has been designed for a young couple whose main desire was to get the most light and minimalistic space possible.   That is why, we transformed the initial fractional layout with many separate rooms and corridors into a common space, with only the bedroom area separated. As zoning elements, curtains of intense cobalt colour were used, which are the unifying motive of the entire apartment.   The main colour scale of the apartment is restrained, almost monochrome. Such a decision is motivated by the ambition to balance the vigorous coloured accents and make the space brighter and airier while maintaining some rigour. For this reason, a ceiling was brought down only in the kitchen and bathroom ar... More

PUNKRAFT is a craft beer bar just around the corner of a historic pedestrian street in Podol, the Kyiv downtown. This basement spot, packed with craft beer fans these days, used to host a cocktail bar.Our task was to change the schematic layout of the premises, keeping its kitchen and toilet facilities location, to equip cold room for beer kegs storage and completely redesign the interior including the entrance and guest zones. Stylistically we inspired by the industrial aesthetics of beer equipment and the philosophy of the craft brewing movement itself such as freedom, punk, experiments and custom production. This concept pushed us to use materials such as stainless steel, cold rolled metal, concrete and neon light to create a special rebe...
