Diller Scofidio + Renfro complete two ground-breaking buildings for the Columbia Business School

Located on Columbia’s Manhattanville campus in West Harlem, the new home for the Columbia Business School comprises two buildings and approximately 492,000 additional square feet of floor area. The two buildings designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro are the Henry R. Kravis Hall and the David Geffen Hall respectively, which each include numerous multifunctional spaces that foster a sense of community. Zaha Hadid Architects completes new global headquarters for Infinitus China

Located on the site of a decommissioned airport, Infinitus Plaza is an office complex that includes herbal medicine research facilities, safety assessment labs and a learning centre for conferences and exhibitions. Liang Xue Zaha Hadid Architects arranged the eight storeys building around central atria and courtyards. A nod to the symbol for infinity “∞”. The anchoring voids, together with a variety of shared indoor and outdoor spaces, aim to build a strong sense of community by visually connecting the different floors together. Northern Kentucky Health Innovation Center

The 210,000 square foot Northern Kentucky Health Innovation Center includes classrooms, offices, laboratories, student collaboration spaces, conference rooms, and a simulation and clinical skills suite.  Flexible lofts are used for active learning uses, bridges, an open, social staircase and five-story atrium with top-lit skylights create a unique design.  The skylight uses electronic glass that tints at different shades, based on environmental conditions. The major transformation of the Verdun auditorium and the Denis-Savard Arena is a project to completely rebuild the Denis-Savard arena and revalue the historic architecture of the auditorium by peeling off its metal envelope while modernizing the interior of the complex. A 1900’s complex of warehouses used in the tobacco industry, this 7 acre campus was converted to be one of Durham, North Carolina’s hottest live-work-play destinations. The event scene at Golden Belt is rich with unconventional art exhibitions, live music, theater, and great local cuisine drawing a blend of people around a dense arts energy.   Entro designed the site identification and wayfinding signage utilizing design vernacular that reinforces the historical industrial context.   Golden Belt attained LEED Gold certification in 2009, recognized for its sustainable green features. Old Faithful Visitor Education Center

Cushing Terrell provided full A/E design services from pre-design through construction completion for this new facility that replaced the existing Mission 66 era visitor center. The building accommodates peak loads of 25,000 visitors each day in July and August. Design inspiration for the new Visitor Education Center was taken from the Arts and Crafts style and the Adirondack camp influence of the Old Faithful Inn, with sensitivity to the view sheds of the Old Faithful Geyser, the adjacent Old Faithful Inn, and the Old Faithful Historic District.
