Moscone Center is an expansive collection of light-filled spaces that accommodates a variety of convention-related activities while making strong connections between the typically inward-looking visitor function with the public life of the city. Designed by SOM with Mark Cavagnero Associates, the expansion was constructed in multiple phases while the existing buildings remained operational. CO Architects designed the 140,000-square-foot Student Services Building (SSB) as a new gateway to the California State Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) campus in Pomona, roughly 30 miles east of Los Angeles.  As the gateway building, SSB welcomes matriculating students who register for classes and apply for financial aid, prospective students and their families who meet at the site for campus tours, and alumni actively involved in the campus community.  CO Architects topped the SSB with an undulating, standing-seam aluminum roof that spans over two separate structures.  The shape and orientation of this distinguishing feature is driven purely by performance and function with the aims to optimize energy management, maximize... Situated at the gateway to the Hudson Yards submarket, this repositioned, LEED Platinum office tower maintains the expression of the site and neighborhood while attracting creative tenants to its new Class-A workspace. KPF renovated the eight-story warehouse and designed a new, 17-story building to rise from the podium. On the exterior, the podium’s lowered brick spandrels and new ribbon windows effuse greater natural light into the space. Inside, a preexisting grid of fluted, concrete columns uphold their form and function. Going beyond the headline of a ‘green building’Featuring one of the world’s most densely-forested vertical gardens, Urban Forest by Aria Property Group and designed by Koichi Takada Architects, is a 30-storey mixed-use residential high-rise located in the cultural precinct of South Brisbane, Australia. The building includes 382 apartments, a two-storey rooftop with garden and residential amenities, and an open public park on the ground level. Five is the name of the commercial building constructed in 2017 by the multinational construction company Skanska in Smíchov, Prague’s business district. The complex covers an area of 14000 m2, and its interiors are intended for use as offices. The project was comprised of three main components: a parking garage, a three-story academic/laboratory building, and a commons linking the new facility to adjacent existing college buildings, all linked seamlessly into the topography. This building is in design for LEED Platinum certification; some of the green features include automatic ventilation, a green roof, electric vehicle charging stations, and a high-performance façade. With great beaches, local culture and lush rainforest vegetation from the nearby Ostional Wildlife Refuge, Nosara, Costa Rica is a surf and watersport lovers dream. Surfing is king there, with many vacationers coming back year after year to ride the waves. In 2013, when a local surf school lost its headquarters, six patrons turned investors jumped in to build a hotel the school could partner with.
