Residence Freundorf

A monolithic residence has been built for a young family in a village close to Vienna. On an exposed hillside plot the residential building is positioned as a solitaire. The sculptural object is surrounded by a generous garden designed by the owners gardening company. The spacious garden merges into the surrounding fields and the natural site. The idea was to generate a seem less perception of the building and the garden area. The garden is part of the living room. The main body of the building consists of two mutually shifted elements which follow the slope from north and south. Chipperfield completes limestone Kunsthaus extension in Zürich

At the virtual opening ceremony of the Zürich Kunsthaus Extension David Chipperfield expressed his delight over the common desire for quality of craftsmen and contractors that resulted in the immaculate realization of the new Swiss museum. © Noshe “The way we have selected and used materials follows the primary idea of exposing the load-bearing structure of the building, making it both visible and tangible. We have only added a few key materials, which dress the exposed concrete rather than cover it up: marble, brass and wood. In the construction phase, we were able to rely on Swiss craftsmanship, which draws on a long tradition and constantly pushes forward newdevelopments.”Jan Parth, Project architect at Davi... More

The extension project of the House-A consists of adding an extension to a single-story villa so as to create a new master bedroom suite. The clients wanted a contemporary extension without contrasting with the existing villa that they hold dear. The main volume of the extension comprising the master bedroom, the en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, is positioned parallel to the existing construction and takes the shape of a pre-fabricated concrete parallelepiped drawn up to precise dimensions and proportions. Another perpendicular volume, contrasting by its transparency but designed to the same proportions, links the concrete extension to the main house. Designed to be more than just a passageway, this transparent volume becomes a home gy... More

The client wanted the house to have maximum views towards the well-maintained community park across the street. Natural light and ventilation to be the hallmark of the design. The material palette for the exteriors is a harmonious blend of unsophisticated materials & technology that included materials like natural wood, local limestone, granite and metal.   Different finishes of granite put together articulate the backlit textured boundary wall. The 30 feet tall tree silhouette for the façade went through numerous brainstorming sessions. Decisions about the material, lighting, cutting and the final form. The ratio of the punc... More
