A nursery and a primary school, several catering stands all around the park and a surrounding area normally used as a shooting range, which in the future should be equipped as a sports centre for the settlement.

More

Palazzo delle Esposizioni

Designed by Pio Piacentini and inaugurated in 1883, over the years the palace has been restructured several times. The original use of the monumental sculptured building for exhibitions was meant to celebrate, together with the capital city Rome, the nation’s modernity, exhibiting bulky objects such as industrial machinery. This partially explains the massive three-dimensional decorations, the nine-metre high columns in yellow scagliola, and the brightly painted walls. For its current use as a contemporary art museum, however, the refurbishment project enhanced the size and sequence of the rooms, whilst neutralising the bulky decorations. Its redevelopment hinges on the use of five-metre high white panels detached from the wall, suita... More

Domus Aurea

According to the descriptions by Pliny, Suetonius and Tacitus, the characteristics of the Domus Aurea were those of the imperial marine villas but on a much bigger scale, as part of the urban fabric, with majestic works to incorporate the hills and monumental arcaded roads over the terrain with such differences in height. What remains of the palace is a pavilion with 150 rooms on Oppian Hill: very few traces remain of the rich stone and precious metal decorations although the fragile, elegant painted and frescoed decorations on the walls and vaults have survived. After 25 years of experimentation, the authorities have identified the technologies necessary to allow the public access to the painting cycles, whilst continuing their delicate r... More

Palazzo dell'Ex Unione Militare

In the historical city centre of Rome, the palace of the formerMilitary Union has preserved its austere image despite beingtransformed into a megastore designed by Massimilianoand Doriana Fuksas. In the mainfaçade, between the mock-classical style heavy columns andtrabeations , the painted galvanised steel profiles reconstructthe extensive glass surfaces, preserving the image whilstadapting the performance. With an interplay of referencesbetween the exterior and interior, natural light and artificiallight, thanks to the glass surfaces the project thus revealsthe glittering arrangement of... More

le_Flat

This project is a refurbishment, a complete renovation of an apartment in Rome. It is a small scale project, but sometimes it happens that the collaboration between architect, client and construction firm is just great; when all parties work together respecting each other's needs and professionality. When this happens, the result is a shared merit and it is a great pleasure to work in this field; to see the project developing and taking shape day by day. The scale of intervention makes no difference and there is no technical solution, budget limitation or extent of architectural detail that cannot be tackled and resolved in the best way, through a common goal. Bianchini Office Building

This small-scale project concerns the restyling of an office building's street front entrance and atrium area; the design proposal strives to give character to a relatively new but anonymous building implementing new services for its repositioning on the real estate market. The genesis of the project comes from acknowledging Rome's particular natural light on hand; a precious design resource allows a normal doorway to become an ever-changing entrance portal. A new rigid steel screen frames and highlights the building's access point. Together with the artificial lighting, a strong and unique character is given. Inserted into an entirely two-dimensional facade, a series of steel trapezoids interconnected with thin metallic elements conf... More
