Birdy

A member of LZF’s Life-Size family, Big Bird joins the happy adventures of Elephant, Fish and Koi. Hovering vertically with fluttering wings, Big Bird has the agile appearance of a gentle hummingbird.  Created by the illustrator and designer Isidro Ferrer and built using a traditional craft technique called vareta, Big Bird is a masterly feat of wood craftsmanship. While light radiates from Big Bird’s wooden plumage, a wood veneer globe hangs from its beak, like a ball of glowing nectar. With Big Bird, LZF is once again dreaming big, re-engineering the concept of what a lamp can be, in both shape and scale. Maruja

An original self-assembly pendant, Maruja was designed by the fresh-faced Gazpacho Studio—it is LZF’s first flat-pack fixture. A contemporary lamp, Maruja’s design is simultaneously unfussy and decorative. Maruja is a name whose origins lie in Galicia, and signifies both femininity and strength. The do-it-yourself Maruja is packaged with all the components needed to assemble the lamp: wood veneer strips (in several sizes), a circular frame, and pins. Maruja is easily constructed, without the need for any tools or adhesives. Using a pin, each wooden strip is clipped onto the circular frame—insert a light bulb, and you will have created an elegant, handmade lamp. The wood veneer strips hang and move freely, and wh... Restaurante Alameda

Alameda is Spanish for poplar grove, but it is often used to describe any shaded tree-lined boulevard, however, in this case it is also the name of José Ángel Castro and Evangelía Chalatsako’s new restaurant in the Salamanca district of Madrid. The Salamanca district represents the most cosmopolitan Madrid, it is one of the most pleasant and luxurious areas of the city. The two-storey restaurant has been designed with a nod to the nineteenth-century housing of this district, with hardwood flooring and classic cut moldings, yet, at the same time entering the restaurant gives you the sensation of leaving the city and entering an oasis of exquisiteness that perfectly combines nature and urbanism. Kohakinho

Koi, the impressive lighting tour de force designed by Inocuo The Sign and Mariví Calvo, cuts a striking figure at the new Kohakinho sushi restaurant in Lugano, Switzerland. Kohakinho sushi restaurant is the brainchild of Rogerio Matsumoto Figueiredo. A chef from São Paulo, Brazil, Figueiredo has been cooking up a storm with his sushi and fusion flavours. Figueiredo’s cuisine is influenced by his heritage: with a Japanese mother and a Brazilian father, his cooking blends Japan’s penchant for precision with Brazil’s colourful culture. With it ethereal-like beauty, Koi has a magnetic presence, one that captures the eye. An enchanting sculpture, Koi is part of LZF’s Life Size collection of lamps that enc... More

Jaleo restaurant

A restaurant in Disney Springs should be a memorable place, not just a place to eat. A space where to enjoy the food in an original and unique setting, this has been our goal: to entertain the diner while enjoying a good meal to make his stay in Jaleo an unforgettable experience. The main concept of the interior design has been to offer "a tapeo", that is to say a tasting of many small bites, with shapes, colors, chairs, lamps, images, in accordance with a typical Spanish menu.   The Disney Springs Jaleo is based on the iconography of Spain, and expresses the vitalist soul of its chef, José Andrés. The architectural form of the building is inspired by an artichoke, one of the most popular original Mediterranean vegetabl... More
